Saturdays of Service

Saturdays of Service is an all church mission, offered quarterly for participants of all ages!

We first meet in the dining room of the historic Sanctuary building on Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and time of fellowship. Then the group divides into work teams to support community service projects and outreach such as the Union Gospel Mission, The Marion Polk Food Share, The Lee Mission Cemetery, and the Backpack Buddies Program. There is a project for each age group. To volunteer, please use the volunteer sign-up on this website.

Several projects are lined up and participants reach out to the local community through food pantry work, UGM kitchen cleaning, Marion Polk Food share garden work, packing bag lunches for needy school children, and making dog and cat toys for animals at the Humane Society.

Save the date!

Our next Saturday of Service

August 15, 2020 –  9 – 12 p.m.

Join Open Door Churches from 9 until noon as we come together for fellowship and service within our community. We will be cleaning city parks, tending community gardens and beautifying Lee Mission Cemetery. All projects outdoors and following COVID 19 precautions. Please bring water, sun protection and a snack if needed. All ages welcome, children with parental supervision.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all projects will be outdoors and registration will be required so that the organizers can divide up the work parties in numbers that benefit the project and uphold the social/physical distancing rules. We will not be having a meal together and volunteers will meet at outdoor job sites.

THANK YOU for all that you do to help serve our community neighbors!

There are always activities for people of all ages and stages. Come join in the fun serving our community and getting to know FUMC friends!
