Saturdays of Service is an all church mission, offered quarterly for participants of all ages!
We first meet in the dining room of the historic Sanctuary building on Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and time of fellowship. Then the group divides into work teams to support community service projects and outreach such as the Union Gospel Mission, The Marion Polk Food Share, The Lee Mission Cemetery, and the Backpack Buddies Program. There is a project for each age group. To volunteer, please use the volunteer sign-up on this website.
Several projects are lined up and participants reach out to the local community through food pantry work, UGM kitchen cleaning, Marion Polk Food share garden work, packing bag lunches for needy school children, and making dog and cat toys for animals at the Humane Society.
Save the date!
Our next Saturday of Service
January 18, 2020 – 12 – 3 p.m.
Please join us for our next Saturday of Service on Saturday, January 18th, from 12-3 pm. Meet at the church for a light lunch and then we will divide into groups to serve our community for a couple of hours of fun and service!
- helping assemble food for backpacks for schoolchildren
- card making at the church
- helping at Family Building Blocks
- sorting food at the Marion Polk Food Share.
Please watch to sign up either online from the church website starting soon after Christmas, or signup with a volunteer after church services on January 5th and 12th.
Money is also needed to pay for food to fill the backpacks-we feed approximately 70 children with a weekend’s worth of food every 3 months. Just designate a gift to Backpack Buddies and put it in the collection, send it to the church office, or donate using Square after church services.
THANK YOU for all that you do to help serve our community neighbors!
