Faith Formation

We offer a wide variety of educational opportunities for all ages. These classes are designed to inspire, challenge, and encourage participants in their faith and life. Beginning June 19, 2022, all regular adult classes will be on summer break. Details on a special Bible study on Colossians to take place in July will be posted soon.

Adult Education Opportunities

Classes for Adults (Sundays 10-11 a.m.)

A special study of Colossians will be taking place during the month of July 2022. More details are coming soon.

The Prayer of the Heart circle is a group of spiritual seekers who gather to share the ancient practice of Prayer of the Heart meditation in silence and community. The meeting format includes a short period of shared spiritual reading on this prayer practice, a period of silent meditation, and a period of meditative praying with scripture.

A group of adults going deeper into various books and themes from the Bible.

Sundays (9:30am-12:15pm) and Wednesdays (5:30-8:00pm)
A ministry for people with developmental disabilities, Bridges is a drop- in time for arts and crafts, but mostly for companionship, friendship and learning new skills. There is a need for people to be companions in this special outreach ministry! Leave your name at the church office (503-364-6709) to make your offer of time, love and caring services.

Adults meet for “Digging Deeper in Theology and Ethics” which includes an in-depth lecture and discussion around various topics of theology, scripture, and ethics.

Parents with young children meet every Sunday to talk, listen, learn and be in community with each other. They share stories, support each other and tackle thought provoking topics.

A discussion group for adults of all ages and stages on a wide range of issues. Topics this fall include non-violent communication, generosity, and Adam Hamilton’s “Making Sense of God’s Will”.

Classes for Adults (During the week)

The Tuesday group explores various books together. Participants will read a chapter a week for several weeks and gather for discussion of the book.

Since June 2020, we’ve been educating ourselves about race and racism through speakers, book studies, and movies and videos. We invite you to join in this Zoom class and be on the journey with us. Sunday morning opportunities for Children

Childcare is available for infants through second grade following the Children’s Time in the MICAH service when children go with childcare attendants to Room 206 in the main building. Children check-in with childcare attendants outside the MICAH Worship Center or you can drop them off throughout the remainder of the morning.

Sunday (except 1st Sunday) 10:00-11:00
3 years to 5th grade
Children gather for this special Sunday school program. Godly Play® is a unique approach to Christian education which engages the whole child through a multi-sensory experience of the Biblical narrative. In this program, children are invited to explore their place in God’s story through storytelling and open-ended play.

3 years to 5th Grade
Children gather once a month for musical activities, games, and singing. They will learn and prepare music to sing at worship services throughout the year.
