Saturdays of Service
Saturdays of Service is an all church mission, offered quarterly for participants of all ages!
We first meet in the dining room of the historic Sanctuary building on Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and time of fellowship. Then the group divides into work teams to support community service projects and outreach such as the Union Gospel Mission, The Marion Polk Food Share, The Lee Mission Cemetery, and the Backpack Buddies Program. There is a project for each age group. To volunteer, please use the volunteer sign-up on this website.

Saturdays of Service – October 15, 2022, 12-3 pm
Please join us October 15th from noon to 3 pm as we come together to serve our community! Want to get outside with friends and family? Beautifying a city park is the perfect site. Rather be indoors? The Marion Polk Food Share or packing weekend lunches at church are great options for you! We are starting with a some soup for lunch and fellowship time at noon in the dining room of First United Methodist Church and then leave for work sites around 12:35 or 12:40. Backpack buddies will stay on site for packing. Feel free to come for any part of the day. Volunteers can report directly to the work sites as well if that works better for you. You will receive more detailed information via email or phone the week of the event.
We are also collecting donations of peanut butter and tuna for the foodbank. Bring donations to FUMC or to your work site on Saturday. This date and time just doesn’t work for you? Bring your donations of peanut butter and tuna to worship at any of the Open Door churches on the morning of the 16th or make a monetary donation to FUMC with Saturdays of Service in the memo portion of your contribution.
