Staff Update – Kathy Pressler

Kathy Pressler is the Salem FUMC administrator who oversees the general operations of the church, human resources, and schedules all events, meetings, and building rentals. She also serves as the bookkeeper for both the FUMC Trustees and Open Door Churches.

When at home, you can find Kathy working in her yard, walking her Cocker Spaniel, Jackson, or dabbling in water colors. She also enjoys short trips to the beach and the mountains – anywhere with water! (when there’s not a pandemic going on, of course).

Kathy was kind enough to answer some questions for us to give an update to the congregation regarding how she is doing, and about some of the things that she is fond of:

Q: How long have you worked at Salem FUMC?
A: I started at First UMC in November of 2013 after working at Morningside UMC for 10 tears.

Q: What is your favorite part about working at Salem FUMC?
A: The people; the variety of the work.

Q: How have you spent your time during the pandemic?
A: Mostly working at the church and working in my garden.

Q: Do you have any prayer requests?
A: For the church as we go through this period of time- pandemic and pastoral transition. For my sister.

Q: What are you most looking forward to doing once the pandemic is over?
A: Being able to visit my sister in Seattle

Q: What is your favorite song?
A: The song of the birds at sunrise.

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: That’s a hard question…. A home movie with my dad and mom when I was 2 years old.

Q: What is your favorite color?
A: The color of the ocean on a clear summer day.

Q: What is your favorite candy or dessert?
A: A UNO bar; red velvet cake

Q: What is your favorite Bible passage?
A: 1 Corinthians 4-7 but hard to choose just one. 😊
